"just wanted to add my feedback re my lesson in case anyone else would be interested.
 
Our lesson was for two hours which was fantastic value ! especially given theamount of information and enthusiasm that Graham put into it,
I had to make notes when I got home to try and remember it all!
 
Our first 30 mins were spent in the cafe looking at safety, gun fit and theory regarding gun swing, gun mount, reading the clay and understanding 'lead' as well
as setting up 'mentally' before shooting - very useful to do this as a starting point, as we looked at how the clay flies, where to set up for the shot, where to (try)!
and break the clay and where the most common mistakes occur, you can't really take this in when you are actually shooting and it became clear to me that without this kind of preparation is more important than practicing shooting when you dont know why you're missing.
 
Next were onto the range and down to the trap stand to find a position underneath the clays so you get them coming straight toward you overhead or going away overhead, these should be 'hittable' as you don't need any 'lead' just aim straight at or slightly under/over depending on whether incoming or going away. my biggest learning point was to be very quick onto the clay and shoot it asap ! the quicker the better..(easier said than done!)

With Graham looking over my shoulder he was able to tell where I was going and with his help I did hit a few but also missed a few too but at least by the end of the session I understood why I was missing and got some good guidance on how to practice more effectively, on the same stand until I can regularly hit them and then begin to open up the angle so that some lead is required as well as practicing on some other 'easier' targets.
 
For homework I need to practice mounting the gun, swinging and I even have some reading to do ! Now I need to get back and practice as instructed and will keep you and Graham posted as to how I get on. Finally of course I would highly recommend Graham's tuition to anyone, novice or experienced alike. "
